Jeannie Bittner / JH Social Studies
Jeannie Bittner earned her Bachelors in Education and began substitute teaching in public schools for several years. She taught a couple of years at Westside Christian before joining us in 2004.
She met her husband, Steve, in high school, but they did not get serious about their relationship until they were in college. Together they have raised four children, all of whom are Santiam Christian graduates. In Jeannie’s spare time she finds enjoyment in spending time with her family, traveling and quilting.
Traveling to other countries has made Jeannie more appreciative and thankful. It has helped her value experience more than things. Seeing all of the ways that people from different cultures do life has helped her realize there are many ways to do the things we do.
Jeannie loves the community at Santiam Christian and getting to really see the hearts of her students as they develop strong character. Her unique life experience helps her in relating to her students. “I didn’t come to know the Lord until I was in college, and came from a somewhat difficult family background, which helps me to better understand different perspectives in life.”
As to why she believes Santiam Christian is worth the sacrifice for a family to make to send their children here, Jeannie quotes Colossians 2:8 “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.”
