Elementary Instructional Assistant-This position will assist classroom teachers with instruction. Support a safe learning environment by encouraging appropriate student social interactions while supervising student work time. Supporting academic instruction through teaching small groups and supporting students 1:1.

Qualifications:
- College graduate from an institution recognized by ACSI
- Current state certificate, ACSI certification, or be certifiable
- Other qualifications may be added by the board as deemed appropriate
Personal:
- Demonstrates an enthusiasm for life and learning with a good sense of humor
- Has a genuine love for children
- Possesses a high energy level, personal stamina, and a willingness to work hard
- Possesses sound organizational skills and practices
- Develops and maintains rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, consideration, and impartiality
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Spiritual Leadership
- Reflects the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
- Seeks to role-model in speech, actions, and attitude, a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ
- Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, administration, and staff
- Recognizes the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their child’s education and is prepared to assist them in that task
- Motivates students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling
- Leads students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ; shows by example the importance of Scripture study and memorization, prayer, witnessing, and unity in the Body of Christ
Instructional
- Teaches classes as assigned by the Building Principal following prescribed scope and sequence
- Plans broadly through the use of semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and more currently through the use of weekly and daily lesson plans
- Integrates Biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
- Utilizes valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of the school's philosophy
- Employs a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional
Non-Instructional
- Cooperates with the Board and administration in implementing of all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school
- Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress
- Keeps students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of failure
- Supervises extra-duty activities (i.e. lunch or hall duty), extra-curricular activities, organizations, and outings as assigned
- Performs any other duties which may be assigned by the building principal
Professional
- Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth
- Has a teachable spirit and demonstrates an attitude of continued learning and professional development
- Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, in-service, retreats, committees, faculty, and parent meetings
- Knows the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature
- Refuses to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately
- Notifies the administration of any policy he/she is unable to support
- Places his/her teaching ministry ahead of other jobs, outside interests, or volunteer activities

Santiam Christian Schools is located in Adair Village, about seven miles north of Corvallis. Santiam Christian comprises four schools: preschool, elementary, Junior high, and High School—our High School averages between 240-280 students and 25 faculty. The High School Principal is responsible for building and maintaining a positive culture anchored in truth, grace, wisdom, character, service, stewardship, community, and love. This includes graciously communicating and collaboratively working with any and all members of the school community. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of teaching experience and two years of administration experience. The ideal candidate will also understand best practices in curriculum, professional development, and student management.
